Herbert
West: Reanimator
by H. P. Lovecraft
| The
waiting was gruesome, but West never faltered. West told me how
he had obtained the specimen. Herbert West needed fresh bodies because
his life-work was the reanimation of the dead. Dr. West’s
reanimated specimens were not meant for long existence or a large
audience. The specimen, as West repeatedly observed, had a splendid
nervous system. I was West’s closest friend and only confidential
assistant. This need for very fresh corpses had been West’s
moral undoing. West was not even excited now. West did not resist
or utter a sound. West was gone. |
